Scholarship

Each year, Alpha Pi Sigma- Alpha chapter awards a scholarship to either an incoming freshman and/or transfer student coming into SDSU. Sisters understand the financial strain college expenses put on a student which is why we created this scholarship. 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • First-Year Freshman or Community College Transfer Student

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

  • Proof of enrollment at San Diego State University 

APPLICATION PACKET CHECKLIST:

  • Scholarship Application (pdf below)

  • High School/Community College Transcript

  • Personal Essay

  • A letter of recommendation

TRANSCRIPT​:​

Submit an official or unofficial high school or community college student transcript.


ESSAY​:​

Submit a 500-word essay explaining what motivated you to choose your proposed major and future career goals. Provide any additional information, including school and community service activities, in which you believe will help the Scholarship Committee make a well-informed decision. This is your first, and sometimes only, chance to tell them why they should award a scholarship to you.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION​:​ 

Submit one letter of recommendation, with your name at the top of each page. The letter of recommendation must be from an employer, teacher, counselor, school administrator, or member of the community (not a relative). The letter must address your leadership ability, academic potential, community involvement, perseverance, ability to get along with others, independent thinking skills, and desire to obtain a college degree. The letter must also include one specific reason you should be considered for this award.

DEADLINES

Applications open in May and close near the end of the summer. 

Scholarship recipients will be notified in the upcoming Fall semester.
